Council Sets New Public Comment Rules

Port Huron City Council has approved new rules on public comment after weeks of debate. Starting January 12th, anyone who wants to speak must sign up before the meeting, and comments will be split between city residents and business owners, and those who live outside the city. The 4–3 vote came despite more than an hour of pushback from speakers who called the plan divisive. Supporters say it keeps meetings organized, while opponents say it shuts out taxpayers who work or volunteer here. The new process begins next month.
