Port Huron Leaders Pass Olive Branch

In Port Huron, a clash between Mayor Anita Ashford and City Manager James Freed sparked a heated City Council meeting. Tensions rose after Freed stormed out of a February 10th session, upset over Ashford’s handling of a vote mix-up. At last Monday’s meeting, dueling resolutions—one to censure Freed, another to back him—were on the table. After two hours of debate and public pleas for unity, the council scrapped both ideas. Freed praised Ashford’s character, hinting at a truce as the community hopes for peace.
